The market for lifts and their components is becoming truly global. Across the European Union (EU), the installation of new lifts is subject to the 95/16/EC directive, which defines precise rules for CE Marking, based on a number of health and safety requirements. In the EU and many other markets, a lift cannot be put into service without having gone through a conformity assessment process carried out by a notified body. This process encompasses both the equipment and its components. It conditions the attribution of the compliance declaration and the authorization to apply the CE Marking.

What are lift inspections and audits?
This is a range of services designed to help manufacturers achieve compliance with the EU 95/16/EC directive. Bureau Veritas has all the necessary resources and notifications to cover the whole conformity assessment process as specified by the European lift directive. This includes support for quality assurance methods and assistance in achieving the certification, as well as verification of lifts and related equipment in the locations where they need to be assembled.
The Bureau Veritas teams can also assist lift manufacturers in the process to obtain the CE Type, or in the implementation of internal action plans to make sure they comply with the lift directive.
